Puppetry – a mid-20th century marionette puppet, in the form of a Chinese Emperor, sculpted and painted papier-mâché head with painted features, the face applied with a long flowing moustache, sculpted and painted composition hands and feet over cardboard, dressed in traditional brightly coloured floral patterned robe, strung with wooden control bar, accompanied with a programme from the Candie Gardens Theatre, Guernsey, dated Monday 14th February 1955 It is believed that this puppet probably featured in the production at the Candie Gardens Theatre and may have been in part 16 ‘The Emperor’s Nightingale’, a short play for puppets by Dorrie Laurey, based on the famous story by Hans Christian Andersen
