Provenance: Descended in the family of John Tobin Boston Police Department detective and officer on the so-called "Pick-pocket Squad" in the 1940s and 50s. Tobin was a friend of the Red Sox and the Yawkey family, and had a box seat at Fenway Park. Over the years he was given gifts and souvenirs by the Red Sox, including drinkware, smoking sets, and signed baseballs. He also took side jobs as bodyguard for visiting celebrities including Frank Sinatra.
