Beschreibung:

Residence of light Glass fused in a mould, pasted, cut and polished, made in 2017, diameter 29 cm, height 14.5 cm (Zí) Author’s certificate enclosed. After studying at the Glassmaking Secondary School in Železný Brod, Pavel Trnka continued his studies in Prague at the AAAD in prof. Libenský’s studio, where he graduated in 1973. Together with his peers Oldřich Plíva, Yan Zoritchak, Aleš Vašíček, and Marian Karel he represented new cut “prismatic” sculptures. The authors wanted to use the optical qualities of cut glass, most often crystal. Pavel Trnka has remained loyal to this concept of creation. He has an innovative approach to the examination of the additive counting of colors in the light spectrum in cut objects. The author creates minimalistic works composed of many separate colorful parts of cut glass. The result is wonderfully perfect (Sylvia Petrová). The viewer then sees a different color depending on the angle due to the layering of the individual colors. The work on offer, Residence of light, has precisely these same optical qualities. The work can be seen as part of the Spectrum cycle, which the author created at the end of the 1970s and has reverberated through his work ever since. This cycle is characterized by the connection of several polished colorful blocks of glass, through which rays of light shine and refract into other colors that are not present in the glass.
