De La Bigarre goes into great depth detailing the various diseases and maladies which can be cured by this water. He relates in the cover: "Permit me to present you with a short extract & translation of the efficacy and vietues of the watter called Eau Demelisse, and the mode of using it in Different cases....May you never want to use any Remedy for Serious pains! is the sincere wish of one, who feeling the greatest concern for your Happiness, Remains with a respectful attachment." He then lists the uses [his spelling retained]: 1. Known for many years a the best remedy against Apoplexy 2. Persons subject to swoons, faintings, vapors or head whirlings, may be instantly relieved by drinking it.... 3. this an excellent remedy against all sorts of venoms or poisons 4. it is a powerfull aid to Digestion 5. It cures any loosness which comes from a weal stomach 6. it calms head ache 7. it heals any wound and prevents the Gangreene to get in and cures it, if already began 8. it Relieves Rhumatism pains by Rubbing with it the party affected... 9. it is a great help for those who are liable to windy cholicks... An unusual document regarding what seems to be a "patent medicine," which cures many conditions. Condition: Light overall toning, a bit heavier along folds. Paper still strong (not separating).
