Rex Whistler (1904-1944) - Autographed and Illustrated Association Copy, Blake (William), Songs of Innocence and Experience, London: Chatto and Windus, 1938, dustjacket over pink papered boards, 8vo, [1] Provenance: Presented to Lady Juliet Duff (née Lowther; 1881-1965), socialite and patron of the Arts, by Rex Whistler (1904-1944), the front endpaper uniquely illustrated and inscribed with an autograph letter by R.W. dated Sunday, Jan: 7th, 1940, written in a scrolling Rococo frame, 'Darling Juliet/I meant to have written sooner to thank you for your lovely Christmas presents to me & to tell you how much I love them - those beautiful silk handkerchiefs & that enchanting little cameo box - that delicious picture - which I nearly forgot to mention - of Vic & [?] Bert skating at Frogmore! I do think it was so sweet of you to send them all, & they gave me so much pleasure. Please forgive my notepaper I couldn't find anything better. My most affectionate good wishes for 1940/with much love/many thanks from Rex.'
