Royal Navy.- Armytage (William, Captain, Royal Navy, served on HMS Samarang on the East India Station, 1821-72) 2 Autograph Letters signed, on HMS Samarang approaching England, and n.p., together 12pp., 4to & 8vo, 16th August 1841 & n.d., written "approaching the Needles... . We have had rather a tedious passage and it is now 140 days since we sailed from China. We left Macao... and during our passage called at the Mauritius, St. Helena and Ascension...", folds; and another, a letter to his mother from a third party, v.s., v.d. (3 pieces). ⁂ The boats of the "Samarang", destroyed on 15 March, 1841, five forts, one battery, two military stations, and nine war-junks, in which, collectively, were 115 guns and 8 ginjalls.
