Unsewn in original paper folder with glassine jacket; cloth chemise and slipcase. Chemise rubbed at folds, slipcase splitting at edges and with top side panel lacking. Limited edition, no. 28 of 106 copies, signed by the artist. "This was the most ambitious project that Schmied had undertaken to publish. It had to be abandoned for years because of the Depression and Schmied's financial problems resulting from it." Schmied exhibited trial pages and illustrations at Galeries Georges Petit and in 1936 found sponsorship. "It is an amazing example of the devotion to perfection that Schmied had." Ritchie 44.
