5.5" x 3.75", photographer unknown, ca 1910. Title appears in the negative, at lower right; and as an ink inscription at left. The chief holds a walking stick made by a Sioux artist, with a handle carved of red catlinite in the form of a dog's head. A snake is carved, spiraling around the wooden cane. The town of Gotebo, in Kiowa County, Okla., is named for this man. Condition: Fine.
