SWEDENBORG, Emanuel (1688-1772). Opera philosophica et mineralia . Dresden and Leipzig: Friderich Hekel, 1734. 3 volumes, 2° (330 x 197mm). Vol. I engraved frontispiece portrait of Swedenborg by Bernigrot fil after I.W. Stör, engraved vignettes on title and on dedication pages, each vol. dedicated to a different nobleman. 125 engraved plates; including duplicate III: 58/59, without plates numbered I:27, III: 44,89. Woodcut initials, headpieces and tailpieces. (Vol. III quire 4G slightly shorter, small neat tears at folds of a few plates, some spotting, most plates browned). Contemporary Swedish speckled calf, contrasting shaped panel with blind border on sides, gilt spine with arms, edges mottled in blue, marbled pastedowns (extremities lightly rubbed, small chip at head of vol. III spine). Provenance : C.K.B. (early initials on title) -- W.F. Willemssen (inscribed on title) -- Stockholm, Hammer Library (photograph showing the set in the Hammer Museum, Stockholm laid in). FINELY BOUND COPY OF THE FIRST COLLECTED EDITION of Swedenborg's main scientific works, his Principia rerum naturalium (Dresden, Leipzig: 1734) and his monographs on the metallurgy of iron and copper Regnum subterranemum sive minerale de ferro and Regnum... de cupro et orichalco (Dresden, Leipzig: 1734). Hyde 228-230, calling for 110 plates only. (3)
