The Collection of Medals to the Cheshire and Manchester Regiments, Rifle Brigade and Royal Green Jackets formed by the late David Boniface India General Service 1854-95, 2 clasps, Burma 1887-89, Burma 1889-92 (6937 Pte. H. Day, 4th Bn. Rif. Brig.), with edge bruise and lacquered, otherwise good very fine £160-180 Footnote Henry Day enlisted in the Rifle Brigade at the regimental depot in Winchester in August 1884, aged 19 years and was originally posted to the 3rd Battalion. Transferring to the 4th Battalion in India in January 1886, he was actively employed in Upper Burma 1887-89, and returned to the U.K. in January 1890 - which period witnessed him being imprisoned for 28 days for being found asleep at his post. Day was transferred to the Army Reserve in August 1891.
