Advertisement for the Joaquin Miller Lecture Season, 26.5x15.5 cm (10½x6¼"), with longer message in Miller's hand, signed simply "Joaquin". From Joaquin Miller, penname of the Poet of the Sierras. Miller resided in Oakland, and wrote often of his surrounding in California and the West. "The Danites" refers to a vigilante group organized by the Church of Latter Day Saints in Missouri, who acted as an army and participated in the Mormon War of 1838.
