Beschreibung:

As the first series-produced, mid-engined Ferraris, the early Dino V6s - the 206 and 246 GTs - are landmark cars. The line they founded would prove to be an immense commercial success for Maranello, production amounting to 2,487 GT coupés and 1,274 GTS versions by the time the model was deleted in 1974. Colin “Cozy” Powell, who once owned this 246GT, was one of the most prolific drummers in the rock music business. In a career spanning three decades, Powell worked with some of the biggest names around, including stints as a member of Black Sabbath, Rainbow and Whitesnake, as well as legendary guest appearances with everyone from Donovan to Roger Daltrey, Jack Bruce to Jeff Beck and Gary Moore to Brian May. He died in a car crash in 1998. Signed by Cozy Powell, the accompanying Swansea V5 registration document records his wife as registered keeper. The vendor purchased the car in January 1985, at which time it was in a dismantled state but with engine and gearbox rebuilt. Restoration of the body, chassis and suspension was undertaken by Robin Smith at Simpson Engineering, a company with experience of racing Ferraris at Le Mans. The work, which involved a bare-chassis strip-down, was completed in 1997, since when the car has not been used; indeed, it has only been on the road for ten years of its life, supporting the vendor’s conclusion that the recorded mileage of 35,661 is genuine. Finished in classic Rosso Corsa with black interior, the latter equipped with Aiwa stereo radio/cassette, the car is described by the private vendor as in very good/excellent condition and will be presented “ready to use”. Last MoT’d to September 2002, it is offered with jack, tool roll (incomplete), maintenance manual, restoration invoices and Swansea V5 registration document.
