(Large 8vo) 10¼x6, later full calf gilt, morocco lettering and numbering pieces, gilt turn-ins, all edges gilt, by Tout. First Stockdale Edition. Tall copy of this handsome edition printed by T. Bensley. The plates are by thirty different engravers (and four unsigned plates): Landseer, J. Chapman Bell, Eastgate, Bromley, Skelton, Audinet, Martin, Barrett, and others. Bookplates of Edward Robeson Taylor and Edward DeWitt Taylor. Lot Amendments Condition: Mild rubbing to joints and spine ends; intermittent pale foxing, a little heavier at ends of vol. 1 (including title-page); near fine. Item number: 164578
