Tiffany Studios Bronze and Leaded Favrile Glass Dragonfly Lamp Designed by Clara Driscoll, circa 1906-13 The conical shade decorated with a repeating motif of an inverted stylized dragonfly with pierced outspread overlapping wings, in translucent blue, green and rainbow colored glass, green body, and protruding aqua blue colored eyes, set against a semi-opaque ground shading from light blue-gray at the top to mottled green and amber at the bottom, with two bands of striated translucent amethyst and cobalt colored glass, shade tag stamped TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK; the floriform base with paneled sides, four light sockets, stamped TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 532; later pierced metal cap. Height overall 25 3/4 inches, height of shade 7 3/4 inches, diameter 20 1/4 inches. C Sold by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston for the Benefit of the Collection
Shade - generally in good condition; no apparent evidence of restoration or replacements to the individual glass segments, including the glass jewels; the coloration in the segments that form the two narrow geometric bands appear to be consistant (no replaced segments); colored segments elsewhere appear to be consistant; there are a few individual glass segments with stress cracks and these particular segments appear to be stable; shade is tight; shade is in the round; with red enamel accession number cancelled underside of upper shade ring mount; the etched metal filigree work that forms the wings of the dragonflies on the exterior of the shade appears to be in good condition base - mottled brown and green patina with areas of wear or rubbing, notably along the raised rim edges; the four light sockets appear to be original and are marked BRYANT PAT'D NOV 26 1907; each of the four plastic on/off switches are marked PERKINS; the lamp has been rewired; with red enamel accession number cancelled underside; some light superficial scratching and scuffing to the topside of the foot, not of consequence; heat cap appears to be good condition; may or may not be original
