TWO ACHAEMENID GOLD ORNAMENTS IN THE FORM OF LION AND EAGLE HEADS MID-1ST MILLENNIUM B.C. The lion with stippled muzzle and chased mane, a suspension loop at base of neck for attachment, 1 in. (2.5 cm.) long; the eagle with hooked beak and repoussé feathering, pierced twice at neck base for attachment, 1 1/8 in. (2.7 cm.) long; a Parthian gold and garnet earring, with hinged clasp, the hoop with oval garnet inlay and another additional inlay, with pendant pyramid of gold spheres below, circa 2nd Century A.D.; a pair of gold and garnet hoop earrings, each with double boat-shaped pendant decorated with small conical spikes overall and twin garnet cabochon inlays, 1st millennium B.C., all 1 in. (2.5 cm.) high av.; a large Amlash hollow gold pendant in the form of a cluster of pomegranates, suspension hoop missing, circa 1000 B.C., 1¾ in. (4.5 cm.) high; a gold spiral ornament decorated with granulated triangles and gold spheres along the lower edge, 1½ in.
