UZANNE, Octave (1852-1931) -- Quelques-uns des livres contemporains en exemplaires choisis, curieux ou uniques, revêtus de reliures d'art et de fantaisie, tirés de la bibliothèque d'un écrivain et bibliophile parisien, dont le nom n'est pas un mystère . Paris: A. Durel, 2 March 1894. 8 o (221 x 141 mm). Title in red and black; printed on pale pink paper. Slightly later boards imitating yellow pigskin, original gold and blue wrappers bound in, by E. Carayon. The handsomely produced catalogue of the first and most important of the two sales of books of Uzanne's fin-de-siècle library (the second, consisting of just 135 lots, was held in 1899); lots 414-451 describe books written by Uzanne. Although unsigned, the characteristically exuberant preface was written by the collector himself. Uzanne's bookplate and monogram are reproduced on title and lower wrapper.
