Whiting Mfg Company Aesthetic Movement Sterling Silver and Mixed Metal Seafood Salad Set In the Japanesque style, comprising an oval footed bowl, with clam and oyster shells, seaweed and other aquatic motifs against a hand hammered ground; and a serving spoon and fork, each decorated on the handle with an applied crab and engraved foliate motifs against a hand hammered ground, original fitted box. Height of bowl 3 7/8 inches, width 10 inches, length of serving spoon 12 1/4 inches.
Each of the three pieces is engraved with monogram or initial "W." The bowl is so marked on the underside; the spoon and fork are so marked on the rear side of the handle. There are some light superficial scratches to both the interior and exterior of the bowl. There are a few crevices on the exterior side of the bowl with a green residue or deposit causing some discoloration or staining. The underside fo the bowl is marked with the Whiting maker's symbol, also STERLING and the numeral 880. The fork and spoon also have the Whiting maker's symbol as well as STERLING and the numerals "6" and "7, respectively. Box: There are tears to the interior lining, appropriate for its age; cover is detached.
