Niels Otto Moller (Danish, 1922-1988) for J.L. Moller Dining Table and Six Dining Chairs, Denmark, c. 1965, teak, natural fiber cording, table with self-storing leaves, two Model 64 armchairs and four Model 79 side chairs, table ht. 28 3/4, wd. 51 1/2, dp. 34, open wd. 93, chair ht. 31, wd. 18, 19, dp. 19 1/2 in. Note: Moller completed his cabinetmaking apprenticeship in 1939, which was followed by further study at the Arhus School of Design. In 1944, Moller founded JL Mollers Mobelfabrik and for the rest of his life, his furniture designs would be produced by his own company. Moller's chairs, strongly represent, through the choice of materials and the soft curves, the Scandinavian postwar vision of practical yet well-made design. The JL Moller brand became synonymous the world over with good Danish design.
