Smith, Boston, Bookseller's label in the front recording, mostly pencil, daily activities, movements, and observations of the 54th Massachusetts Regiment during the 1863 campaign season; entries begin in late May continuing through the end of the year, entries in mid-July concern the attack on Battery Wagner on Morris Island including noting the death of Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, five pages listing wounds and deaths in the company on July 16, 1863, and lists of expense incurred while on campaign; with two drafts of Lincoln Ripley Stone's recollections of the 1861 and 1862 campaigns and an albumen photograph of Lincoln Ripley Stone seated on a porch surrounded by several people including African American women.
