Le Secretaire a la mode ou methode facile d'escrire selon le temps diverses Letres de Compliments, Amoureuses, & Morales The author is described as ''Historiographe de France''. Printed: Chez Olivier de Varenne, Rue Sainct Jacques, au Vase d'Or, Paris. 1641. 8vo. pp. [viii], 300, [4]. Half calf and marbled boards. Offering a variety of different ways in which to make reply by letter. A four page table at the end identifies the wide variety of topics including thank you letters, appeals for some favour, missives protesting love and fidelity, congratulations to one newly married, writing to a sick friend, to a father on the death of his and so on. Not all of them are so favourable, there is for instance a letter of reproach to a friend for his coldness. First published in France the previous year, an edition in English also appeared in 1641.
