Brustbild eines Edelmannes in prachtvoller Kleidung mit einem Orden des Hauses Habsburg um den Hals. Neben seinem Kopf ein großes Wappen mit dem Wahlspruch «Deus Spes Mea». Angefertigt vom Freiburger Maler und damaligem Direktor der Freiburger Zeichenschule Franz Josef Rösch, ist davon auszugehen, dass das Porträt im Kontext mit dem seinerzeitigen Verwaltungssitz Vorderösterreichs entstanden ist. Sowohl Orden als auch Doppeladler im Wappenschild verweisen hierauf.

Zustandsbericht:
Oberflächenverschmutzung, starke Frühschwundrisse mit daraus resultierenden partiell geringen Abhebungen der Malschicht und mehreren Farbverlusten (ca. 2 mm bis 3 cm) verstärkt am rechten Bildrand, Bildkanten und -ecken min. ber., Keilrahmen leicht nach recto durchdrückend, altrest., vereinzelt punktuelle Retuschen. Verso Mitte l. Leinwand hinterlegt (ca. H. 32,5, B. 11 cm).

Portrait of a nobleman in fine clothing with a medal of the House of Habsburg around his neck. By his head a large coat of arms with the motto «Deus Spes Mea». Painted by the Freiburg painter and then director of the Freiburg drawing school Franz Josef Rösch, it can be assumed that the portrait was created in the context of the administrative seat of Further Austria at that time. Both the medal and the double-headed eagle in the coat of arms refer to this.

Condition report:
Surface soiling, considerable white shrinking cracks with resulting partial minor lifting of the upper paint layer and several spots of paint loss (approx. 2 mm to 3 cm) mainly at the right margin, edges and corners minimally rubbed, stretcher slightly pushing through to recto, restored, isolated retouching. Verso canvas relined (approx. H 32,5, W 11 cm) middle left.
