1854 Lithograph Issue Singapore Covers 1856 (17 May) entire to Canton, marked "p St Norma", bearing 4a. blue and red cut to shape and overlapped by well-margined 1a. red Die II pair, each tied by very fine "B/172" obliterator, showing red crayon "8d", framed "india paid" and, on reverse, "singapore/p.o." double-ring datestamp in red and Hong Kong transit c.d.s. (23.5); small triangular portion of entire at top neatly cut out. A very fine franking paying the short-lived 6 annas per 1oz. rate to Hong Kong and more importantly the earliest known "B/172" cover in private hands.
