Nachdem Picasso 1946 Suzanne und Georges Ramié, die Eigentümer des Ateliers Madoura in Vallauris kennen gelernt hatte, fertigte er dort über zwanzig Jahre lang ein immenses Werk einzigartiger Keramiken. Die Formbarkeit und das Ursprüngliche des Materials inspirierten den Meister zu neuen Ausdrucksformen, häufig gepaart mit seiner Vorliebe für Tierdarstellungen und mythische Wesen.

Zustandsbericht:
Sehr guter Gesamteindruck. Verso am oberen Rand kl. Absplitterung (ca. 5 mm), wohl produktionsbeding und recto kaum sichtbar. Verso Prägestempel «MADOURA PLEIN FEU» wohl vom Holzkeilrahmen verdeckt. Das Werk wurde nicht ausgerahmt.

After meeting Suzanne und Georges Ramié, the owners of the Atelier Madoura in Vallauris 1946, Picasso produced an immense repertoire of unique ceramics for over 20 years. The plasticity and originality of the material inspired the master to new forms of expression, often coupled with his preference for animal depictions and mythical characters.

Condition report:
Very good overall impression. Verso small chipping (approx. 5 mm) at the upper margin, probably production-related and barely visible recto. Verso embossed «MADOURA PLEIN FEU» presumably covered by the wooden stretcher. The work was not unframed.
