Beschreibung:

Deutsche-Industriewerke of Berlin-Spandau, originally an armaments maker, entered the motorcycle market in 1926 with their own designs of engine and chassis. Their two-wheeler manufacturing merged with NSU in 1933, making the ‘Deutsche-Motorcycle’ rather uncommon in preservation. Their use of visually impressive, unit-construction power-units, needing precision machining techniques, came very early in their production history, making the D-Rad an expensive item, sold in relatively small numbers. The museum’s example of the side-valve D-Rad was kept concealed in pieces during the war and is in very good original condition, conserved rather than restored and with a typically period lighting set with drum headlamp. The engine fitted is identical to the damaged original, which is offered with the machine. It is also fitted with a beautiful 1933, left-hand-side Felber sports sidecar with side-door and boot, as well as a pillion, making this a family outfit. Subjected to the normal safety checks and with a replacement down-pipe, this would make a wonderful mount for, say, the Banbury run.
