Right hand drive In 1895 Emile Mors built his first car, using a V4 engine rear mounted and Benz like belt transmission. By 1898 business had grown rapidly and he managed to turn out over 200 cars. They quickly became one of France's better known cars with a distinguished sporting record and provided a serious challenge to the Panhard-Levassor supremacy in the early years of the 20th century. After the Great War the firm continued to manufacture high quality touring cars, adopting the Minerva built sleeve valve engine as their chosen power unit. There were two models in the 1920s the 12/16hp, with 1,978cc and the 14/20hp with 3,560cc This particular, 3½ litre car was imported in 1926 and delivered new to Leeds, being one of only a few of this marque delivered new to Britain, the English importer, Malcolm Campbell, also raced one at Brooklands. The current owner purchased it at auction in the late 1980's and has had many years of enjoyment from the car, and we are told carried out regular maintenance during his ownership. An engine rebuild was carried out in 1996 and only a limited amount of miles have been completed since, the car being displayed in a museum in recent years. Well presented, and retaining many of its original characteristics including twin side mounted spares and pillar mounted spot-lamp, finished in cream and brown ‚with a well appointed interior featuring silver inlaid wood furnishings. Christie's have not had the opportunity to run the car but have been informed that it runs and drives well.
