Beschreibung:

Following the construction of the last MkV KTT in 1935, there would be no more production KTTs until the arrival of the MkVII in 1938. The handful of MkVI racers built were for official use only, the engine fitted to the last of the series, which was topped by enlarged, square-finned cylinder head with enclosed valve-gear, forming the basis for that of the production MkVII. Although the works Velos had enjoyed the advantages conferred by rear springing for the previous two seasons, the MkVII entered production in March 1938 with a rigid frame. Improvements to the cycle parts included a front fork with revised spring mountings, and beefed-up brakes equipped with stiffer magnesium-alloy brake plates and wider shoes. Just 37 MkVIIs were made before the introduction of the spring-framed MkVIII for 1939, making it the rarest of production KTTs. This MkVII was despatched to West London Velocette agents L Stephens Ltd, of Goldhawk Road, Shepherds Bush on 20th May 1938. The machine is offered as a rolling chassis together with a dismantled engine comprising crankcases, cylinder head and barrel, crankshaft assembly, pistons (x2), inner timing cover, camshaft drive and bevels. A BTH racing magneto, Amal TT9 carburettor (body only), gearbox, Smiths chronometric rev counter and other minor components also are included in the sale.
