According to Norton Owners Club records, this matching-numbers 16H was supplied new - complete with chromed petrol and oil tanks - to Alexander Motorcycles in Glasgow. The machine was first registered on 8th February 1939 and sold to an H MacDonald of Springburn, Glasgow on 8th July that same year. It was purchased as a basket case by the current owner in July 2005 from S Bryan of Houston, Johnstone, Renfrewshire, who had last registered it in 1984. Over the course of the next three years 'CGE 515' was completely rebuilt and first registered by the current owner on 1st March 2008. (A detailed list of works carried out is available for inspection). The only modifications notified are the fitting of a JG electronic voltage regulator, retaining the original Lucas box, and adapting the rear lamp to accommodate a stoplight. It had been intended to fit a sidecar, hence the Avon Triple Duty tyres. Believed original, the speedometer currently displays a total of 67,557 miles on the odometer, approximately 1,200 having been covered since the rebuild. Since completion the Norton has been shown at the 2008 and 2009 Scottish Motorcycle Shows, gaining 'Highly Commended' and 3rd place class awards respectively. It also gained a 'Runner Up' award at the Scottish Classic Motorcycle Show in Ayrshire in June 2009. Described by the private vendor as in generally excellent condition, the machine is offered with sundry restoration invoices, NOC dating certificate, current road fund licence, MoT to February 2011 and Swansea V5.
