Portland Golf Club, Portland, Oregon - signed by every member of US and British Teams, plus honorary captains Walter Hagen and Craig Wood Author: ** Place: Portland, OR Publisher: Portland Golf Club Date: 1947 Description: 89, [7] including advertisements, notes, and autograph (blank) pp. Illustrated with photographs and advertisements, plus an aerial photograph view of the golf links. 27.6x21.3 cm. (10¾x8¼"), original saddle-stitched illustrated wrappers. A rare 1947 Ryder Cup program signed on the front cover by every member of both the US and the British teams. Signatures include, Captains Ben Hogan and Henry Cotton, plus players, Ed Oliver, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Lew Worsham, Lloyd Mangrum, Jimmy Demaret, Herman Barron, E.J. Harrison, Herman Kaiser, Fred Daly, Jimmy Adams, Dai Rees, Arthur Lees, Charlie Ward, Max Faulkner and Sam King. Also signed by that year's honorary captains Walter Hagen and Craig Wood Also, the golf pro Eric Green seemed to have autographed the cover using a non-functioning pen (the impression of his autograph is there while the ink is not). Also signed by Robert A. Hudson, who came forward to fund the British team, when it became apparent that the event might not happen. Thus, he was made Tournament Chairman. Hudson also was a member of the PGA Advisory Committee (1946-68). The Americans defeated the Britain’s in overwhelming 11 to 1 victory. An interesting item, which is most uniquely signed by the Ryder Cup teams in full. Lot Amendments Condition: Light extremity wear, very slight creases; else near fine. Item number: 217949
