1952 BENTLEY MARK VI FOUR DOOR SALOON COACHWORK BY H J MULLINER Registration No. (Not currently registered) Chassis No. B400MD Engine No. B200M Right hand drive. Two major developments accompanied Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motors return to car production in 1946. Firstly, car manufacture was transferred from Derby to Crewe, and secondly the decision was made to supply complete cars with standard bodywork, known as the Standard Steel Saloon. The revised 4¼-litre pre-war engine was given an F-Type alloy cylinder head which gave a healthy 135bhp and top speed of nearly 100mph. In 1951 the engine capacity was increased to 4,566cc with full flow lubrication and twin exhaust system which developed 150bhp. The Bentley Mark VI was still built up around a rigid chassis and technically formed an ideal base for custom built coachwork. H J Mulliner were the most active and this 1952 M-Series chassis is a good example of a semi razor edge styling that was fashionable at the time. This particular car resplendant in its dark blue livery with contrasting blue leather upholstery was returned to the UK in 1990 from Ohio in America where it had spent many years. Its early history has been lost, however looking at the general condition, it is fair to say that it has been well maintained and is believed to have covered 95,000 miles. A new set of tyres have recently been fitted and a ¨2,000 service has been carried out. The Bentley drives very well and is mechanically in good condition. The body is original, although repainted and would be improved with detailing. The car is not registered in the UK although the C&E 386 is proof that all import taxes have been paid. NO RESERVE
