A happy marriage of Triumph power and Norton roadholding, the Triton is rightly regarded by knowledgeable motorcycle enthusiasts as the British sports special. Owned by the vendor since April 2000 and restored over the course of the past seven years, this example combines a ‘pre-unit’ Triumph 6T Thunderbird engine with the ‘wideline’ version of Norton’s classic Featherbed frame, the latter dating from 1958. The engine has been enlarged to 750cc by Dresda proprietor Dave Degens, who modified and built up its bottom end, while the T140 10-stud cylinder head has been modified to 9-stud configuration by Pete Willis Engineering of Tavistock. Other noteworthy features include a rebuilt Triumph gearbox; Dresda belt primary drive; Norton Roadholder front forks fitted with Unity Equipe stanchions and stainless-steel springs; Amal Monobloc carburettors; 12-volt alternator electrics; electronic magneto replacement ignition; 18” alloy wheel rims; Dunlop TT100 tyres; Hagon shock absorbers; Grimeca four-leading-shoe front brake; Manx-style glassfibre fuel tank; and Dunstall half-fairing. Since completion in 2007 the machine has covered only a mere handful of miles and is presented in commensurately good condition. It is offered with sundry restoration invoices, current road fund licence, MoT to December 2008 and Swansea V5 registration document.
