1974 JAGUAR E-TYPE V-12 SERIES III ROADSTER Chassis No. IS23476 British racing green with tan leather interior Engine: V-12, 5,343cc, 241bhp at 4,750; Gearbox: four speed manual; Brakes: hydraulic disc; Suspension: independent front and rear. Left hand drive. Launched in 1961, the E-Type Jaguar displayed the superb lines of its illustrious ancestry. Built to succeed the XK range, the model's sleek and flowing form was an immediate sensation. Originally powered by a 3.8 liter engine and later upgraded to a 4.2, the car also received four wheel disc brakes and fully independent suspension. The E-Type became an even superior performance car in 1971 when the 5.3 liter V-12, Jaguar's first new engine since the debut of the XK 120, was available. With 241 horsepower and the smooth V-12, the Jaguar was a refined yet exciting car. Prior to 1971, only Ferrari and Lamborghini provided this combination, but with less refinement and at a much higher price. Often considered one of the most beautiful cars of all time, the Jaguar E-Type is currently being celebrated through a special exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. This V-12 E-Type is finished in British racing green with tan leather interior. The current owner purchased the car in 1990 and has used it sparingly during the last six years. The odometer reading is just over 56,000 miles, and the car is fitted with the optional Nardi steering wheel and air conditioning. Recent work includes an overhaul of the carburetors and the air conditioning compressor. The hoses and seals were checked and replaced where necessary, and for safety and security purposes a battery cutoff switch was installed.
