1995 Mercedes-Benz E320 Sportline Cabriolet Lot Number289 RegistrationM10 00J Chassis NumberWDB1240662C272840 Engine Number10499096292 Odometer reading84,785 miles Estimate£13,000 - £16,000 Print details Send this to a friend Rare example with factory hardtop Good condition throughout Mercedes-Benz expanded the well regarded W124 E-Class range to include a stylish coupé version launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1987, featuring a lower roofline and pillarless side treatment in the best Stuttgart coupé tradition. Built on a slightly reduced wheelbase, the interior was redesigned to accommodate four adults with individual rear seats and unique touches including the automatic arm that offered front seat passengers their seat belts and set the coupés apart from their four-door cousins. With open top cars making a comeback in the latter part of the 1980s, Mercedes-Benz engineers set about adding a cabriolet variant to the W124 line-up, extensively reinforcing the coupés bodyshell to make it more rigid, without compromising safety. In fact, there were over 1,000 modifications to the cabriolet’s body, including a system of protective head restraints, activated by a computer, in the event of a rollover. The hood was typically well finished, with heated rear glass and beautiful fitting, folding into the boot to completely disappear when stowed, while a wind deflector and power mechanism were two extra cost options. This lovely example of this sought after cabriolet model is presented in Blue/Black with a Mushroom leather interior. This Sportline Cabriolet comes with the extremely rare factory hardtop which was a very expensive option at the time and one which is rarely seen on the roads today. The car comes with electric windows, electrically operated hood and has a current MoT test certificate which expires in January 2022. The car is in wonderful condition throughout belying its age. A true retro Mercedes-Benz which is revered as one of the greatest family sports coupés and powered by the smooth six-cylinder, three litre engine, it is effortless to drive.
