2 vol. in 1, engraved throughout with 2 pictorial titles and 72 fine engraved plates by Pierce Tempest after Marcellus Laroon titles and captions in English, French and Italian, caption to first plate 'A Sow Gelder' cut out and replaced, title to vol.1 torn and repaired affecting image, some light soiling and staining, mostly marginal, many leaves a little frayed at fore-edge and neatly repaired, with stipple-engraved portrait of Pierce Tempest tipped to front pastedown, contemporary panelled calf ruled in blind, small initials "IP" stamped in centre of lower board, rubbed, rebacked preserving most of old spine and red morocco label, corners and some patches on upper cover repaired, [Colas 1793], folio, n.p., [?1711 or earlier]. *** Some of the earliest studies of this type, showing itinerant street traders and performers in 18th century London.
