Beschreibung:

22,000 miles from new 1970 MERCEDES-BENZ 280SL 2+2 Registration No. DWJ 12H Chassis No. 1130 4422 013661 Engine No. 130 983 2200 8041 Dark metallic blue with dark blue interior. Engine: six cylinder, single overhead camshaft, 2778cc, 170bhp at 5700rpm; Gearbox: automatic transmission; Brakes: four wheel disc: Suspension: independent all round with coil springs, single joint swing axle at rear. Right-hand drive. The Mercedes-Benz 280SL was the last version of a series of "Pagoda Top" sports Mercedes which were built with progressively larger engines, namely 2.3, 2.5 and 2.8 litres. The 280SL was available from the Autumn of 1967 through to the Spring of 1971 and was, by definition, both more luxurious than the earlier models as well as being more powerful. Fit and finish were impeccable as usual, and coupled with Mercedes' usual mechanical robustness these sporting two-door models are still highly desirable. This lovely 1970 example has had just two registered keepers from new, the first lady owner having kept the car for nearly all of its life. The second owner was an enthusiast who, with no expense spared, refurbished the car to its original condition and the owner today describes it as being in a 'perfect state', the recorded mileage being just 22,000 miles from new. The car has unmarked deep blue metallic paintwork with complementary dark blue Tex upholstery. Mechanically the 280SL is described as being in excellent order and it has a current MOT, valid until May 1998. Being a 2+2 model the car, of course, has just a removable hard top. We would recommend close inspection of this sought after sports model.
