A 19th-Century lacquered-brass compound monocular microscope, signed on the foot A. ROSS LONDON , the barrel threaded to unscrew for storage, with double nosepiece, mounted on a short arm from the main limb with rack and pinion adjustment ( loose ) and micrometer fine focusing, simple stage, condensor mount and substage mirror mount ( mirror lacking ), on a no.2 stand with flat Y-shaped base, with three eyepieces, two marked B and C, with Ross ¼ and 1in. objectives in canisters and two others, substage condensor and second condensor mount, in a fitted mahogany carrying case with two doors and brass carrying handle -- 34cm. (13 3/8in.) high ; a nickel-plated and black-painted compound monocular microscope signed SWIFT & SON LONDON , the barrel threaded to be removed for storage, with triple nosepiece, rack and pinion focusing and micrometer fine adjustment, the lacquered-brass stage with micrometer grid and aperture disc, substage condensor and diaphragm, and plano-concave mirror, adjustable via rack and pinion, on a raised U-shaped foot, with a x10 eyepiece and one objective, in a fitted mahogany carrying case painted WANDSWORTH COUNTY HIGH SCHOLL on the lid -- 30.5cm. (12in.) wide ; and a small black enamelled student's microscope by C. Baker no.4188 with threaded barrel and eyepiece for coarse and fine focusing, simple stage with clips and concave mirror, tilting on two uprights from a ring-shaped base -- 17cm.
