Beschreibung:

3 stage brass barrel with wedding rings at girdles and an additional ring approximately 1 - 3/4" behind flared cannon muzzle, which measures approximately 1" across at bell. Light engraving over breech, and hand engraved "LONDON". Private Tower proof marks consisting of a pair of crowns over crossed scepters. Flat iron lock marked "BARBER" in center with waterproof pan, tailed pan cover, and swan neck cock. Cock and lock engraved with light lined borders and offshoots en suite with barrel. Brass sideplate with with light floral engraving. Iron tang with light floral engraving en suite with lock and barrel, with shell finial at rear, with raised wood around tang. Brass tipped ramrod, probably the original, retained by a single ferrule and feeding into a reinforced mouth with simple finial. Brass trigger guard with floral fore finial, engraving of flower on trigger guard, and hatched floral finial at rear. Brass plaque at wrist with shell motif at top, unengraved. Brass buttplate with long topstrap engraved en suite. CONDITION: Very good. Brass has some minor handling marks and small superficial pings that do not detract, with easily readable legends. Lock is very good with crisp engraving and markings, and a smooth patina with flashes of dove grey. Brass furniture is very good with a light patina, ramrod mouth darker than balance. Stock is very good, with evidence of having been gently sanded and revarnished with some wood being shiny and visible patterns from the applicator. One noticeable crack on the left side ahead of the sideplate, approximately 5", but it appears stable. Action functions as it should, bore is very good with a minimum of oxidation. This is a very attractive example of a popular weapon by a top maker. EMW Name Value Accessories Barrel Length 15 - 1/4" Barrel Wall Thickness Chamber Choke Drop at Comb Drop at Heel FFL Status Antique Gauge 1" at bell Internal Bore Diameter Length of Pull Manufacturer Barber Model Blunderbuss Paperwork Weight Serial Number NSN
