A Blue and White Ewer with Silver Mounts Transitional, Chongzhen period (1628-1644) Made for the Dutch market, the pear-shaped body raised on a waisted pedestal foot and painted with a scene of scholars drinking wine in a landscape setting, below a band of leafy tulip sprays on the shoulder and further flower sprays on the waisted neck which rises to a spouted rim, the curved handle decorated with flames, the thumb-piece of the silver mounts in the form of a standing peacock, the inside of the cover fully marked, probably Dutch Haarlem, 18th century 10in.
