A BLUE ENAMELLED GOLD-DECORATED SANDWICH GLASS BEAKER PROBABLY IRAN, 9TH CENTURY Of cylindrical form with flat base, the body decorated in gilt in the 'sandwich-glass' technique with an arcade formed of lotus leaves and containing large palmetes, each palmette flanked with a small blue dot, a smaller band above with repeating smaller palmettes with occasional blue dots, the underside with stylised gilt bird, repaired breaks, areas of restoration 3¼in. (8.2cm.) high
