ATTRIBUTED TO THE RHOMBOID GROUP, CIRCA 330-310 B.C.
A CAMPANIAN RED-FIGURED BELL-KRATER ATTRIBUTED TO THE RHOMBOID GROUP, CIRCA 330-310 B.C. The obverse with a symposion scene in two registers, the upper with three reclining figures, a youth and a female facing right, a female facing left with a kantharos in each hand, and a third female seated to the left, the lower register with a female wearing a Phrygian cap dipping an oinochoe into a calyx-krater and a seated female playing the double flute, a tripod table above an Ionic altar between them; the reverse with a standing female, her face three-quarter frontal, and two seated females, one above the other, on either side of a filleted stele, an Ionic altar below right; a chain of dotted S's below the scenes, a band of laurel below the rim, palmettes framed by voluted florals below the handles; some details in added white 19½ in. (49.5 cm.) high
