A Carved Boer War Commemorative Plaque With the Arms of Transvaal A hardwood plaque 13in. by 8in., with "rope-carved" edge, the top of the board decorated with scroll inscribed with gothic lettering, 'The Boer War' above the Arms and Motto of the Transvaal, heads of Queen Victoria anhd King Edward VII in relief, each above the appropriate cypher and two smaller inscriptions: 'War Declared October 11th 1899' and 'Peace Proclaimed May 31st 1902', the lower section of the board probably originally mounted with a metal plaque, now missing, for a Roll of Honour (three corner-ornaments broken)
