Serial no. 8163. 12 gauge. Two sets of 25 inch chopper-lump barrels. Smooth concave rib marked Boss & Co., 13 Dover Street, Piccadilly, London, W1. Casehardened assisted-opening round action engraved with fine rose and scroll. Single selective trigger with selector on right lock. Cocking indicators. Automatic safety. Disc-set strikers. Ejectors. Finely checkered straight-grip stock of contrasting figured walnut. Right hand rolled triggerguard. Gold oval with JWS. One-inch leather-covered recoil pad. Finely checkered splinter fore-end. Later leather double gun case with leather corners and brass hardware. Maroon baize interior with maker's label. Accessories include: leather handguard, snap caps, round oil bottle marked J. Purdey, replacement turnscrews, cleaning rod and cleaning accessories and spare strikers. Condition: Excellent, as redone. Barrels show 99eblued finish. Set 1 shows bright bores with patches of frosting or streaking. Set 2 shows bright bores. Right barrel shows trace of a bulge. Left barrel shows some surface unevenness. Action shows 99ecased colors. Reblued triggerguard shows 99inish. Wood shows refreshed finish. Case in excellent condition with some scratches and scuffing. Interior shows some limited losses.
