Handwritten in ink on laid paper, originally folded to 12 ½"x7 ¾" (32 x 19.5cm), this contemporary "True Copy" of Milne's first commission records him being appointed by Vice-Admiral Sir John Jervis KB, "Commander in Chief…at Barbadoes, and the Leeward Islands and the Seas adjacent".
