A DEEP CELADON AND DARK GREY JADE RITUAL DISC, LATE 3RD/EARLY 2ND CENTURY BC
A DEEP CELADON AND DARK GREY JADE RITUAL DISC, LATE 3RD/EARLY 2ND CENTURY BC the jade with heavy ivory-white alteration, decorated to both sides of the body with an incised rush-mat pattern; a thicker russet jade disc with the same rush-mat design with white alterations to stone; a smaller pale green jade disc with scattered areas of alteration to stone, decorated to one side with the rush-mat pattern, the other with small raised scrolling nodes or grain pattern, late Eastern Zhou 3rd Century BC; a dark celadon jade disc, with tiny flecks where altered, both sides with wide scrolling nodes of the grain pattern, late 3rd/early 2nd Century BC; a celadon and russet jade disc with later incised zoomorphic designs to both sides; a smaller celadon and russet jade disc, with scattered ivory-white alterations especially to the edges with later incised phoenix designs to both sides; and an olive-green jade disc fragment, areas of slight alteration to one side, recut with hooked segments to the edges, both sides decorated with high raised grain pattern nodes, drilled holes to the hooks and the lower centre of the disc, probably to be incorporated in a set of girdle pendants, 5th/4th Century BC -- The first 5½in. (13.9cm.) diam. (7)
