A Federal Mahogany Shelf Clock works by david wood newburyport, massachusetts, circa 1800 the three baluster form finials set on reeded supports joined by foliate fretwork above the domed molded cornice and glazed door opening to a painted dial with Roman numeral hours and Arabic numeral minutes, signed David Wood/ Newburyport, the lower case fitted with a door flanked by reeded columnar pilasters, raised on splayed legs, further set on a later bracket. Height of clock 34 3/4 x width 12 1/8 x depth 6 1/8 inches. Estimate $ 30,000-50,000 Property from a Private Collection, Elm Grove, Wisconsin Provenance: Peter Sawyer, Exeter, New Hampshire; Joel Einhorn, Woodbury, Connecticut; Sotheby's New York, January 21, 2011, Lot 369 Clock is in overall good, stable condition. Exterior to case and bracket with fairly even finish having typical light surface wear (nicks and scratches) consistent with age. With crank, pendulum and single weight. Weight cranks up and clock runs, unsure as to duration or accuracy of movement.
