A FINE FORMAL DAISHO DAITO : UNSIGNED, Muromachi Period (16TH CENTURY) SHOTO : SIGNED NAGAKATSU , Edo Period (19TH CENTURY) THE DAITO Sugata [configuration]: Hon-zukuri, iori-mune , deep curve with fumbari, ko-kissaki Kitae [forging pattern]: Itame nagare Hamon [tempering pattern]: Ko-notare of ko-nie Boshi [tip]: Kaen Nakago [tang]: Ubu , two mekugi-ana, higaki file marks, ha-agari kuri-jiri Habaki [collar]: Single silver-clad copper Nagasa [length of blade]: 54cm THE SHOTO Sugata [configuration]: Shobu-zukuri, iori-mune , no curve Kitae [forging pattern]: Tight ko-itame Hamon [tempering pattern]: Gunome of ko-nie with some niju-ba Boshi [tip]: Broadening yakitsume Nakago [tang]: Ubu , two mekugi-ana, osujikai file marks, ha-agari kurijiri Habaki [collar]: Single silver-clad copper Nagasa [length of blade]: 16.3cm Koshirae [mounting]: The daito in a katana mounting, the saya black lacquered with paulownia in gold makie , the kashira horn, the fuchi copper alloy nanakoji with shakudo five-gourd and bellflower and paulownia mon in suemon zogan , the menuki sets of three gold or gilt paulownia mon , the mokko tsuba of shakudo ushimeji with the five-gourd and bellflower mon and pawlonia mon . The shoto in a tanto mounting, the saya matching the daito , the fuchi-kashira as the daito, menuki of shakudo and gold paulownia mon , the small oval tsuba shakudo with a silver fukurin . Both swords bound with green braid in formal daimyo.
