A fine mughal-style white jade hanging vase and cover Late Qing Dynasty the elongated body of double gourd form, thinly carved in low relief on one side to depict a Lohan standing with a lion receiving an acolyte, below a Guanyin seated upon a lotus pad throne emanating from the top of the of the straw hat worn by the Lohan, flanked by a pair of acolytes, the reverse with two further manifestations of Guanyin, one riding a dragon and the other on the back of a phoenix, all surrounded by wispy clouds and flying bats and birds, all below an integral swinging openwork bail handle ornately carved in acanthus leaves, the base marked with an apocryphal Qianlong Yuwan mark ('For the pleasure of the Imperial Qianlong Emperor'), the domed cover carved with flying bats and clouds, below a finial of acanthus leaves securing loose rings, the well-polished translucent stone of even white tone, wood stand Quantity: 4 31.8cm., 12 1/2 in.
