A fine Victorian mahogany longcase regulator of small size T. Cooke & Sons, London. Circa 1840 The diminutive arched case with beaded panel to the plinth, foliate-carved apron beneath the silvered dial of regulator layout and signed T. Cooke & Sons, 31. Southampton St. Strand London , 24-hour ring, all hands of blued steel, the movement with substantial shouldered brass plates with massive double-screwed pillars, wheel train with six crossings, Vulliamy-type deadbeat escapement, the pendulum suspended from a bracket on the backboard - the steel rod terminating in a faceted glass jar with calibrated silvered rating nut and swinging against a calibrated beatscale on the baseboard, with six-spoke brass pulley and brass-cased weight 5ft. 9in. (175cm.) high
