A finely engineered, probably instrument maker's manually-operated brass and ferrous metal salesman's cutaway demonstration model of a cut-off valve gear, with cylinder 3½in. bore x 6 7/8.in. stoke, the walls with graduations and complete cylinder heads, manually operated crankshaft with squared end and shaped winding handle, scotch crank and two sets of valves and valve chests, mounted at opposite sides of the cylinder, one side a single 'D' valve with slide crank allowing adjustment of valve travel, the other with two eccentric driven valves, the outer with manually operated rack and pinion to allow cut-off adjustment, the whole, with brass surround mounted in a brass furnished mahogany veneered carrying box ( some old damage ) on four bun feet -- 12 x 24¼.in.
