A four-case lacquer inro** Edo period (19th century), signed Kanshosai Decorated in varicolored gold, silver and red hiramaki-e , takamaki-e and kirikane with scenes of monkeys on rocks and in maple trees at the foot of a cascade, all against a kinji ground; with a wood netsuke carved and lacquered as a seated monkey picking its teeth and also with an ivory ojime of the Three Mystic Apes who refuse to speak, hear or see evil, signed Ikkosai (Saito Itaro; 1804-1876) 3 5/8in.
