A French gilt and patinated bronze and black marble clock Print Second half 19th century The bronze signed: A. Carrier for Albert Ernest Carrier Belluse (1824-1887 French); works signed: Barrard & Vignon / Fts D'Horologerie / Rue Commines 7 / Paris / 998; face with partially rubbed marks: Cie Anonyme Des Brun / * R**** Surmounted by a patinated bronze sculpture of a bacchant anointing a herm of Bacchus with grapes and wine, atop a black marble plinth mounted with gilt-bronze grape vines and centering a circular clock face with gilt-painted Roman numeral hour markers, attached to a two-train movement Overall: 33" H x 13" W x 10" D est: $4,000/6,000 Condition: Overall good condition with scattered minor scuffs, scratches, and wear commensurate with age. Lacking key; working condition unknown. Scattered nicks and fleabites to black marble base including two approximately .125"-wide chips to edge of clock face. Minute hand slightly bent. Moran's does not guarantee working condition of clocks and watches.
